Burg

Burg represents a shift from still photography to multi media installation.  The result of my graduate research into human perception and attention. As an artist, I wanted to understand how we sense and process the sensory input.  This led me to create video and sound based works, to engage the viewer for longer periods of time.

Named after my hometown of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, Burg is a multi media translation of the places and experiences within a middle class, white, small town family. The work is a continuation of Home Space/Home Place. The work enters the more private space of my family experience, where day to day life is similar to a still photograph with small glimmers of movement, to break up the mundane.
